wedding forecast by JM :: Cynthia Rowley Bridesmaids

"Introducing Cynthia Rowley Bridesmaids"
A couple of months ago, my boyfriend and I took a short trip up to L.A. to check out ANdAZ West Hollywood. During our little getaway, I ventured inside a bridal salon where an associate complimented my Cynthia Rowley crossbody bag and mentioned the newly announced partnership between The Dessy Group, a leading manufacturer of bridesmaids’ dresses and bridal apparel, and Cynthia Rowley , top American fashion designer. Excited by the news, I graciously thanked her and noted it in my head for a future blog topic.

Cynthia Rowley Bridesmaids, an exclusive collection with design elements taken directly from her eponymous ready-to-wear collection, will launch in stores next month! “We wanted to bring a chic sensibility to bridesmaids dresses-a look that is pretty yet sophisticated,” said Cynthia Rowley.
Although brides promise to have their sweet attendants in dresses that can be worn again, Rowley’s creations really are appropriate for use long after the reception. And with retail prices from $175-220, it’s hard to believe these designer dresses are reasonably priced.

“Rowley’s modern silhouettes and rich fabrics are complemented by our signature array of color choices, and are sure to be a centerpiece of any wedding celebration,” said Alan Dessy, chief executive officer of The Dessy Group.

Looks like this partnership has entered a win-win agreement with one another.

art of the paper doll

We've been super busy here at the office, working on our summer events -- back to back weddings, which means, we're working a ton of really cool projects. I took a mini break to do some treasure hunting on the web (more specifically and came across these ethnic goodies -- handmade paper dolls by Kirakirahoshi on Check out if you have some time; it's a great resource to snatch some ideas for multi-cultural weddings -- I've recently become a big fan!

In the meantime, check out these card toppers. You can also mount these to make a paper cake topper, or even have 'em custom made for a unique engagement photo/keepsake -- much like the one designed and created by Ricky Nierva (last image) for the Scrabble wedding.

plastic in the form of sustainable art & functional design

Zaha Hadid is a true visionary. Taking architecture and combining it with one of the most functional materials available, plastic, her Melissa line of shoes has proven to be a fashion icon throughout the industry. This manifestation has opened doors to collaborative projects by other fashion names as Vivienne Westwood. Just check 'em out -- it's like putting "couture" in jelly shoes.

wedding forecast by JM :: Only Hearts

"Only Hearts"
I am all about ready-to-wear, lingerie inspired clothing. It exudes a strong sense of femininity and holds a versatile purpose. It could be playful and flirty, or it could add a touch of sex appeal to a classic look.

As I was going through my sample sale notifications, I came across Only Hearts and was introduced to a new world of pretty little things. In the early 80s, shopkeeper and designer, Helena Stuart, layered bras and camisoles with vintage dresses, tees and slips, initiating a new trend of wearing lingerie as outerwear, turning popular culture inside out. She began designing her own line of intimate apparel and gave rise to the concept of inner outerwear, which she trademarked in 1980.

All things heart-shaped were housed in the original boutique on Columbus Avenue in New York City. It was a destination for heart collectors, lovers searching for the perfect token of appreciation, and wanna be lovers searching for a tempting bribe. Its popularity grew tremendously and was soon designated as a shop for the shameless romantic, a Mecca for lovers and a Valentine’s paradise.

To no surprise, Only Hearts expanded with a second store in NYC, three European boutiques in Italy and one in the West Coast in Santa Monica. Treat yourself to something sweet as this weekend you can enjoy up to 80% off lingerie and frocks by various designers.

jamie lynn+jay's tag-the-date!!

Jamie Lynn and Jay are prepared to take a life long journey together! These sweet B&W clients AND avid travelers asked us to design something "fun and whimsical but modern at the same time." I don't know if it was Jamie Lynn's excitement that got me moving and shaking or the thought of traveling, but I began to concept really fresh, funky ideas. I knew I wanted to step outside of the passport idea; that would work, but I still wanted to take it up a notch. What did I do? I did what I almost always do, make something personal, uber creative, and challenging to assemble. LOL. Check out these darlin' tag-the-dates! We custom designed a luggage tag and printed an old world map on linen stock, scored each tag, die cut each window with precision, delicately placed the information card inside the tag (printed on soft blue stock), and carefully attached a white satin ribbon with an eyelet. Whew!! I'm perspiring thinking about it! OH, and don't forget to check out the beautiful J&J anchor monogram that we design... sweet! Looking forward to 10.10.10! Stay tuned for their invitations....

bringing couture, modern design, innovation and functionality to the table

Now this is what I call modern. Distinguishing itself from the rest, Serax, a Belgium home décor shop and florist studio, unites the works of renowned talents across the world to produce some of the most innovate works of art, vases, floral containers, and fixtures. I've never seen such amazing flowerpot containers and minimalist approaches to floral arrangements. Each piece is laid out so intricately that it's obvious these aren't only trained artists, but these designers attain a truly remarkable eye for composition, something I pay attention to when browsing floral concepts, tablescapes, invitation designs, etc. We, at B&W, are always looking for vendors that share a similar passion for design, and Serax has become one of our inspirations.

I love to see purely creative art, art that was "designed" and laid out only after having spent time perfecting a thorough study. Not only that, but Serax manufactures its own containers and fixtures, and just by this, it has put itself in an extraordinary category of floral and interior design.
