Sharon+Lito's wedding at the US Grant

John Schnack, of Schnack Studios, kicked off my Monday with a wonderful surprise: a link to some teaser photos from Sharon and Lito's luncheon wedding at the US Grant (San Diego) last July 24th (*the same weekend as Comic Con).

S+L approached B&W with an inquiry for our GOLD package (1-month coordination). I actually scheduled their first meeting in Carson at the International Printing Museum; B&W was showcasing letterpress invitations at the LA Printer's Fair (2009), and I figured it'd be a great way to meet in person, and for S+L to see our paper goods. From securing the Immaculata to booking one of San Diego's premier wedding venues, the US Grant, to having already ordered her invitations, and to booking most of their vendors early on in the process, I knew I was about to strike gold by working with an amazingly organized couple. And though I love to help design weddings and events, Sharon and Lito chose to design their special day together sans the help of a pro, though B&W did step in to help with very small details.

If you haven't stepped into the gorgeous US Grant, off Broadway in Downtown San Diego, you're missing out. US Grant spent several years renovating the place, designing and implementing an elegant, posh, and cool interior space, with a charm still reminiscent of the historic venue (circa 1910). The swooping chandeliers, velvet furnishings, marble floors, and deep chocolate wooden walls create a wonderful backdrop for any event. And thanks to our lovely clients, Sharon and Lito, we were able to work inside the hotel for our very first time. The Palm Court ballroom, which is just large enough to accommodate about 150 guests comfortably, is a quaint interior with a neutral base and lots of wainscoting -- it was the perfect canvas for this reception.

With the help of the US Grant staff, Schnack Studios, Affordable Video, Floral Works, Vangie's Florals, Sound Prodigy, and Fab Cakes, Bellz & Whistlez was able to coordinate another smooth itinerary, keeping things on schedule and calm. S+L were in bliss as Polynesian dancers swooned them with daring choreography and live chants, Shiella (Sharon's sister and MoH) shared a tear jerking moment as she delivered her speech, Vangie dressed the interior with lovely centerpieces and crystals, and the US Grant perfected their service starting out with a crisp salad followed by a scrumptious dual entrée.

Check out some of the fun post-reception shots captured by John while the three were out in Gaslamp! Downtown was a mad house with all the Comic Con visitors, but I know S+L got a kick out of being a part of the scene!
