purple + graphite wedding invitations :: starfish logo

Howdy! Today, I'm posting an invitation project I did for Raquel and Rick, who are getting married at 7-Degrees (Laguna Beach). Raquel wanted something modern and clean, using graphite and purple tones and incorporating a subtle starfish logo. I wanted to balance out the simple bi-fold with pocket design by bringing in the deep purple background along with the use of a modern, sans serif, dotted font, Fortuna Dot. I ran all of the pieces digitally on Italian metallic paper and handmade all of the graphite jackets with pockets. I'm finding that more and more brides are in search for minimalist type invitations, clean fonts, and less-is-more concepts. Not only do they want the look, but keeping it simple helps with cost!

84th Annual Academy Awards :: my top 3 favorite dresses

Hello, there! Just sharing my top three favorite dresses from the 2012 Oscars. And I also included my top two best dressed males.

#1) Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton -- I love the vivid coral color, straight bodice, and the layered ruffles. But the kicker for me is the miniature crystal bow tie embellishment. Swoon.

#2) Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji. This dress drapes her curves very well. I love the classic shape, yet the dress has tons of detailing. I'd bet this was a pretty heavy dress, but it looks really comfortable to wear.

#3) Ellie Kemper in Armani Privé. I know, I know, she might be on the worst dressed list because of her matching hair color and blunt bangs, but I still love the dress. It's unique in texture and the color is such a head-turner.

Can't forget the handsome men. I have to give credit to the stylist who picked out this modern tux for Tom Cruise. And David Beckham always knows how to rock any 'fit. There's nothing better than seeing a man wear a suit/tux the right way -- not baggy and loose, too long or too short of an inseam, and sleeves covering half their hands! Pet peeves.

TEASERS! michelle + derrick :: atrero photography

Michelle and Derrick, year long design+coordination clients of ours, had their engagement session taken by our friends, and super cool ninjas, Ed and Karen of Atrero Photography. They've been together for a looonng time, and everyone's excited they are finally tying the knot in July of this year. I'd describe Michelle as having the four "Ss"-- sexiness, style, sassiness and sweetness. And Derrick, he's one cool, patient, suave groom full of smiles (for miles) and giggles. The bride is actually one of my li'l sister's good friends from elementary school, so I've known her for some time. I can't wait for your big day, you two! It's going to be one fabulous event with lots of romance, bling and steeeez -- just like you guys!
